Dr. Bala Ram Malla, Associate Dean of Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences is a highly skilled and experienced general and GI surgeon who has been practicing for more than 15 years. Dr. Malla’s areas of expertise include surgical gastroenterology. He is also an interventional endoscopist.  

Dr. Malla completed his MBBS degree in 2001 from Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University. He completed his residency in general surgery in 2008 from Kasturba medical college , Manipal, India. He underwent rigorous training and was exposed to a wide range of surgical procedures and techniques. Dr Malla is also a Fellow of Royal College of Surgeon (FRCS), Edinburgh . He also has Fellowship in Endoscopy and Gastroenterology, colorectal surgery and hepato- biliary- pancreatic surgery from Germany .

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Malla is actively involved in medical education and research. He has published numerous articles in top medical journals and has presented his research at national and international conferences. Dr. Malla has taken administrative roles as Unit chief and Head of Department of General Surgery.

Dr. Malla is a member of several professional organizations, including Society of Surgeons of Nepal. Throughout his career, Dr. Malla has focused on providing the highest quality care to his patients. Dr Malla enjoys mountain biking and travel during his free time.
